Activities
(individual state activities
are listed on lower part of this page)
*
Web site
The PRONewEngland.org web site provides a New
England focus for pest management info and
contacts. It makes pertinent information easily accessible by
maintaining a library of selected links on pest management topics important to
New England, and a searchable database of New England
pest fact sheets.
Pest tracking models are updated daily during the growing season. The
Site map gives an outline of the website. The summary from a recent
web traffic report is
available.
* Reports
Pest management surveys
are conducted in a statistically rigorous manner (using the Dillman method) to
discover current pest management practices in New England. Surveys have
been completed for Apple, Bean, Carrot, Highbush blueberry, Peach, Peas,
Pear, Peppers, Raspberry, Strawberry, Sweet corn, and Tomato.
Christmas tree and School IPM surveys are scheduled for
2007.
Pest
management profiles
record pest challenges and the available management options. New England
profiles have been completed for Apple, Bean, Carrot, Highbush blueberry, Peas,
Peach, Pear, Strawberry, Sweet corn, Tomato, and Winter squash. A Pepper
profile is in preparation.
Pest
management strategic plans
evaluate impediments and opportunities for
better pest management in New England. The strategic plans also play a key
role in representing our regional perspective in federal regulatory decisions.
Strategic plans have been completed for Apple, Bean, Carrot, Highbush blueberry, Peach, Pear, Peas,
Tomato, and Winter squash. A Strawberry PMSP meeting was held in late 2006
with document completion scheduled for early 2007. A Pepper PMSP meeting is
scheduled for late 2007.
Stakeholder
input
Each of the participating New England states has an
State Advisory Committee that provides stakeholder input
to identify pest management
research, education, and regulatory priorities for university, state, and
federal government programs in the region.
Please see the
Stakeholder input page
for information on our 2006 telephone survey, and recommendations from recent
regional stakeholder meetings.
